Leader of the pack |
November 2007 ~ I thought I’d give you a short Charley update. He is a
terrific dog and has really fit into the pack—in fact he often leads it. We walk
most days for 5 miles and it really takes the edge off. He always comes when he
is called and really enjoys his walks. We often take my trainee’s to the river
and Charley usually joins us—he tries to herd them but he is generally well
behaved. He loves to play with his mastiffs—it looks scary but he usually starts
it. He goes to dog class with me every week and loves the Kids and Dogs
sessions—I often let kids work him—he is getting used to that. He usually
travels everywhere with me—he is in the car before I even call him. He sleeps
either on my bed or outside my bedroom door depending on the activity level in
the house. He greets all my kids in the morning and puts up with a lot of boy
stuff and mild teasing—he has a lovely temperament but is very protective of me.
I have begun clicker training with him—something I thought I would never do and
he loves it. He has also joined 2 non-competitive agility groups but we are going
very slow—he needs to grow up first.
He had a lovely play session with an 8 month old Aussie at my dog class last
week—he ran circles around him—a testament to his superior confirmation and
athleticism. I can not thank you enough for allowing Charley to join our family.
He is very special!

November 2006...making himself right at home
isn't he, I think he figures he's been given a big new stuffie (actually
that's Kathy's Mastiff!) :-)
