I thought you might like an update on our not so
little guy. Yesterday at the vet he weighed in at 23 lbs!! I was a
bit surprised that he was that heavy already. He's now tall enough
to reach the handle on the oven. It makes it more interesting making
lunches and dinner with him trying to help. He's also lost 3 teeth
so far. That means that the biting has gotten worse but it will soon
be over. On the up side, our puppy class teacher gave me a really
helpful idea.
We've been taking him for walks along the
trails of Burnaby Mountain. Because it's set up as a mountain biking
area, there are some training structures set up. Newt has been having
fun going up the ramps and across the skinnies (it's actually a
board about a foot wide that's elevated a bit). We also took him to
the local park where he's discover the joy of the slide. I think
he's a natural agility dog!! :~) I've attached a photo of
Frank and Newt enjoying the slide.
Our next door neighbours have taken a strong
liking to Newt as well. They've become our evening puppy sitters.
Tonight we went kayaking and he spent the evening playing with their
2 dogs and 3 teenagers. Every time one of the girls came into the
room, he went running up to pee on their feet. He gets almost as
excited to see them as he does us. If Newt ever goes missing, their
house will be my first stop. They think he's just the greatest puppy
ever. The dad gets upset if Newt doesn't say hi to him right away and
Newt waits outside their house in the morning to see him before our
morning walk. It's great to have such fantastic neighbours.
