Sweet little River joined Kristine & Dale Marr on their farm in Redwater, Alberta.  River will also get to go to "work" with Kristine in the grooming salon and has a new best buddy named Wind!

December 2006...There was that day...the dreaded "bath" day...
  
But eventually it was worth it when River got cuddles from Santa and even his own Santa suit!

In fact I loved the photo of River so much, and was so far behind on my "to do" list that I used it for our emailed Christmas Card 2006, shown above!

Update November 26 2006

He is a snow dog that's for sure and at least we have lots of snow for him to play in.  He is sending a note to you and Chyne since it is cold here this weekend and we are spending time indoors catching up on a few things.

Hi mom!  I just wanted to let you know that I'm very happy in my new home.  I did miss you and my brothers and sisters at first but my new family has promised to love me just as much. I am having a great time with them.  My new Dad likes to play with me and he makes all kinds of weird noises and sometimes I just have to sit there and twist my head about to try and figure him out.  I also have a human brother and sister who give me belly rubs and throw my toys for me.  Pretty smart of me to try them like that right mom!!  My new mom loves me the most and I love her as well.  She takes very good care of me and is teaching me all sorts of new stuff.  I really love to learn new things and  she is giving me lots of treats to help me learn. She is always telling how cute I am and that I'm a good puppy.  All I want to be is a good puppy and make my family happy.  My favorite time is when I'm getting sleepy.  I've figured out that if I go lay by mom she will cuddle me and give me belly rubs.  This feels so good and I always say thank you by licking her hand.  That's being a good puppy right mom?

You should see me now I am getting sooo big! I am having lots of fun playing with my big sister Wind except sometimes she takes a toy and gets on the couch and then squeaks it just out of my reach.  This drives me CRAZY!!  I also have a new friend named Fuzzy.  She is a cat and I know cats and dogs don't always get along but this one likes to play tag in the house and then she likes to clean my ears as well.

Well mom I'd better go as I'm sure there is something I should be doing, chewing or chasing!  Take care and don't worry about me I'm training my new family just how you told me to!

Update a few days after going to his new home..."a quick note to let you know that River is settling in really well.  He is a love bug and making himself at home.  He is sharp and responds quickly although he may try again right away to see if the coffee table really is off limits for chewing.  Wind thinks he's alright as all these new toys and chew bones showed up with him! Outside he snowplows through the snow to get to us when we call his name.  A cutie for sure and we are excited to have him and are taking lots of pictures as well.  I'm sending one or two of the "slow motion" ones as he is all about checking out his new place.  Take care, I better go as the little one is waking up from his nap!         Kristine"
